Welcome to MonkeyShelf!
You've found us! And we've found you too!
What are we about?

MonkeyShelf is a community where authors and readers meet.
MonkeyShelf is in its infancy. We are in need of good stories.
MonkeyShelf isn't quite like any other online publisher sites you may have seen. Our business model is also different from other publishers. We believe that readers have the right to choose what they like to read. They also have the right to purchase a book in a chapter-by-chapter basis. In the current publishing industry model, publishers decide what books to publish. Many best sellers have been rejected by several publishers before their debut. We let the readers decide.
As for authors, they don't have to wait a long period of time to be accepted or rejected. Although we don't pay an advance, an author makes money as soon as a reader pays for one of his/her chapters. The turn around is instant. With our vote/review system, writers get critiques and support from readers, not editors or book critics.
If you decide you want to author, this is how it works on MonkeyShelf:
1. An aspiring Author registers with MonkeyShelf
2. Registered User submits content to MonkeyShelf. Please note that MonkeyShelf only asks for the exclusive electronic copyrights. The original owner still preserves copyrights other than electronic copyrights, including but not limited to book rights, serial rights to publish in newspapers and magazines, and film rights to produce movies with all and any parts of this content being submitted, throughout the world. For more details, please refer to MonkeyShelf Copyright Agreement under FAQ.
3. For new Authors, the first three chapters or short stories of a book will be free to generate interest. This is your chance to show the world what you can write. As your readership grows, MonkeyShelf may decide to change this for specific authors.
4. Once a submission is approved, MonkeyShelf will publish it. If your submission is declined, it will be returned to you. Sometimes if it is a borderline case, we may provide feedback for future submission.
5. If it’s a free article, viewers may browse it freely.
6. If it’s a fee-based article, every time a Register User pays for the content, a majority of the proceeds go to the registered author’s MonkeyShelf Credit account. For more details on MonkeyShelf Credit account, please refer to the MonkeyShelf Credit under FAQ.

And readers?
1. Browse MonkeyShelf's expanding categories, either by genre, by featured books, by book popularity, or by book reviews at any time.
2. Read any free content.
3. Readers can read reviews before purchasing fee-based articles.
4. If a reader is interested in purchasing a fee-based article, he or she must have registered for a MonkeyShelf account and have a valid Paypal account. For more details on buying credits please see the MonkeyShelf Credits page under FAQ
5. After reading any content, registered readers may also submit reviews.
6. Once you have paid for an article, it will always be available to you to read in the future.
7. Any article can be downloaded in PDF format.
